Title: AI/ML Engineer

Location: Austin, TX or Atlanta, GA (100% Remote)

Employment Type: Contract to hire

Optomi, in partnership with a leading retail company is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to build, deploy, and scale ML solutions in enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in machine learning, cloud technologies, and microservices architecture, with a passion for solving complex business problems through intelligent automation and data-driven decisioning.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of total software engineering experience, with 4–5 years focused on Machine Learning.
• Strong experience in GCP, including Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Vertex AI/Studio.
• Solid background in Spring Boot and building microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, PyTest).
• Proven ability to deliver ML solutions in enterprise-scale environments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and deploy ML models and agents to scan large-scale datasets and generate actionable recommendations.
• Develop and maintain microservices supporting AI/ML pipelines and decision logic.
• Work on proofs of concept to re-engineer and optimize existing software systems.
• Develop decision tree logic and integrate results into a data lake architecture.
• Ensure ML models are production-ready, scalable, and performant within enterprise systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, platform engineers, and business stakeholders, to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Utilize GCP services such as Gemini, Vertex Studio, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub for ML development and orchestration.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through code reviews, test automation, and agile ceremonies.
• Lead POC efforts, analyze outcomes, tune model results, and support enterprise rollouts.
