JOB TITLE: Communications/Event Technician

SALARY RANGE: $43,000 minimum; $53,900 midpoint; $64,600 maximum
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
WORK OBJECTIVE:
Under the supervisor of the Communications Director, supports the department during City wide special events. Works the permitted special events at the park. Assists with special event permitting. Assists with creating, producing and managing online content as needed. Assists with updating the event calendar and coordinating event needs. Assists with internal graphic design for the city.

· Coordinates between event organizers Communications Strategist and Communications Director during events
· Works events by providing support to event organizers, support includes but is not limited to assisting with set-up, unlocking facilities, handling trash during the event, turning on park lighting, setting up sound equipment when needed, etc.
· Serves as liaison to committees.
· Assists with scheduling permitted events and keeping city calendar up to date.
· Assists with event permits and contracts.
· Oversees all maintenance needs for events.
· Manages event storage to ensure all items are returned and stored properly.
· Assists with citywide communications between the City, its residents, and other stakeholders.
· Works with outside organizations to utilize material that is produced by local service organizations and other governmental agencies to educate City residents.
· Assists with updated to the city’s social media pages.
· Updates news stories on city website as needed.
· Assists with filming and promoting events as needed.
· Assists with City Events
· Assists with set up for meetings as needed.
· Works permitted events.
· Assists city departments in producing documents by handling the internal graphic design work.
· Updates community sign.
· Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines that address conflict of interest and code of ethics for government employees.
· Meets the attendance requirements of the position which is an essential function of this position.
· Performs any other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Degree; supplemented by 2 or more years’ experience working events; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
· Should have some experience working events.
· Must have knowledge of social media and posting to social media.
· Strong customer service skills needed.
· Must have some graphic design knowledge.
· Possession of a valid State of Florida driver’s license required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
· Knowledge of government functions and the role of local government in the community
· Ability to prepare, coordinate, and present various outreach content.
· Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.
· Organization skills required.
· Must have good judgement.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
· Ability to coordinate and schedule multiple assignments.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff and the public.
· Ability to work in a diverse environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks involve the ability to exert light to moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
