Overview

Driscoll Children’s Hospital is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Craniofacial & Plastic Surgery and Pediatric Dermatology clinics. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of pediatric specialists dedicated to providing exceptional care for children across South Texas.

New graduates from accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant programs are encouraged to apply. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided. A Texas license must be obtained prior to the start date.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric patients under the supervision of attending physicians.
  • Participate in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care of patients in the Craniofacial & Plastic Surgery and Dermatology clinics.
  • Perform and/or assist with dermatologic and minor surgical office procedures, including injections, biopsies, and wound care.
  • Collect, document, and analyze patient data, and collaborate with physicians on care plans and treatment protocols.
  • Support patients and families in understanding care plans, treatment options, and post-procedure care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance evaluations within the clinic.
  • Engage in patient education and contribute to the hospital’s mission of providing compassionate, family-centered pediatric care.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program (required).
  • Licensure:
  • Active or eligible for Texas Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license (required prior to start).
  • National certification as an NP or PA (preferred).
  • Experience:
  • Experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, or pediatrics (preferred, but not required).
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (preferred).
  • Skills:
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Commitment to patient- and family-centered care.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).

Schedule and Location

  • Monday through Friday; no weekend call .
  • Primarily in-person with occasional telemedicine visits.
  • Some travel required to satellite clinics within the Driscoll Children’s Hospital network.
